INSTALLATION

1. Unzip the downloaded file

2. Edit the “config.php” file in a text editor. **Make sure all settings are correct before proceeding**

3. Using FTP - upload the “referrers” folder to the root of your website. (NOTE - you can change the name of the folder - but you will need to make sure the config.php paths match)

4. Set the permissions on the file “referrers.txt” to 777 (writeable). This can be accomplished in your FTP program (each program does it differently, so please consult your FTP help system - search for “file permissions”)

5. Run the install program to create the database. You will need to visit the following URL in your browser:

http://www.yourdomain.com/referrers/install.php

Follow the instructions on screen. If you receive any errors, this means something is not set correctly in your “config.php”. Please correct and try again

6. DELETE the “install.php” file from the server using your FTP program for security reasons

UPGRADE FROM 1.0.0

1. Unzip the downloaded file

2. Using FTP - upload the contents of the “referrers” folder inside the referrers folder of your current installation on your website. ** DO NOT upload and overwrite the config.php file! - or you will have to edit and set the values again! **

You can now visit your TG Referrers Administration Control Panel at:

http://www.yourdomain.com/referrers/admin

Logging Referrers
1. To track the visitors to any PHP page of your site, you need to place the following PHP code. (I suggest putting it at the top of the 1st file called - usually the called a header):

(some software such as WordPress can cause errors with this include. If that is the case, please try using the full root path for the include.)

Short List
1. Click on “Settings” in the control panel and set it up
2. Add the following to any PHP page where you want the short list to appear (if you changed the path to referrers, you will need to change this to match):

3. Since this uses a text file to display the list, you will need to create a link to a page that includes the referrers.php (see the Full List instructions below). See the right sidebar on this site for an example (where it says MORE)

Full List
1. The full list is generated as a table that you can show on any PHP page of your site. Every time the page is visited, the statistics get updated, and the referrers.txt file is generated (for the Short List). The Full List needs to be included on at least one page of your site. I suggest creating a links.php page (or whatever you want to call it).
2. Click on “Settings” in the control panel and set it up
3. Add the following to the PHP page where you want it to appear:

Random List
1. Click on “Settings” in the control panel and set it up
2. Add the following to the PHP page where you want it to appear:
